Hi 👋 we’re Shortlister, a fast-growing ‘post start-up’ SaaS HR Tech company. We help organisations run structured, high-quality applicant screening processes, reducing time, cost, and risk, using our platform. Our customers rely on us in high-stakes environments where outcomes, trust, and consistency matter. Our university customers use us to automate admissions interviews at scale. Our employer clients rely on us to identify the most talented applicants fast. And our employability clients take advantage of our job-seeker training technology to give their learners an unfair advantage.

We’re growing quickly and expanding into new areas, and we’re looking for a Senior Account Manager to take ownership of a high-impact portfolio, balancing established accounts with emerging opportunities, and driving meaningful expansion.

The Role

  • Portfolio of up to 50 customers within a focused market
  • Reporting to the Commercial Director
  • Supported directly by a marketing manager and a customer success manager

This is a high-ownership role for someone who can manage complexity, build strong relationships, and work autonomously. You must be excited by and used to working towards commercial growth targets.

What success looks like

  • Strong renewal performance across your portfolio
  • Expansion of accounts through increased adoption and new use cases
  • Deep, collaborative customer relationships
  • Able to become the go-to-person known for their skilled application of our capabilities in the market
  • Contribution to the business strategy by identifying product, marketing and other gaps and helping to see new initiatives through to fruition

What you’ll be doing

You’ll own a focussed portfolio of customers at different stages of maturity, from established, high-value accounts to newer customers with significant growth potential. Your focus is to increase the value each customer gets from Shortlister over time and ensure that translates into retention and expansion. Day-to-day, you will:

  • Own and develop a portfolio of up to 50 accounts
  • Build relationships with stakeholders across operational and strategic levels
  • Identify and drive expansion opportunities across teams, use cases, or regions
  • Lead structured check-ins and value-led conversations
  • Manage renewals and commercial discussions with confidence
  • Act as the voice of the customer internally
  • Navigate ambiguity as customer priorities evolve
  • Maintain clear account plans and pipeline visibility

This is not a reactive role. You’ll be expected to lead accounts forward and create momentum.

About you

You’re proactive, commercially minded, and comfortable operating without a fixed playbook and motivated to work in an entrepreneurial environment. You likely:

  • Have experience in SaaS account management or business development, owning and growing customer relationships
  • Can demonstrate a track record of commercial success
  • Are confident managing a sizeable portfolio without losing depth
  • Build credibility with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Are naturally curious about how organisations operate and create value
  • Are comfortable leading commercial and ROI-driven conversations
  • Stay effective when priorities shift or information is incomplete
  • Communicate clearly and confidently
  • Take ownership and follow through

What you'll get:

  • Salary: £45,000–£65,000 depending on experience, plus performance-related bonus
  • Long-Term Incentive Plan (LTIP) – share in the success you help create as the business grows
  • Company pension scheme
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Closed Christmas break – we shut down between Christmas and New Year so you can properly switch off
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Flexible, UK-based working

Why Shortlister?

We’re a small, ambitious team with a ‘post start-up’ culture. Our technology moves forward fast, and we support high-stakes, critical processes for our clients. You’ll get:

  • Autonomy of your commercial plan: renewals, growth, usage metrics, upsell and strategic partner development
  • Work directly with all members of the broader team, including the founders who have previously founded other highly successful SaaS businesses
  • A fantastic opportunity, since our technology is increasing in market share fast
  • Flexible, UK-based working
  • The opportunity to grow as the business scales

If you’re someone who can navigate complexity, spot opportunity early, and turn strong relationships into commercial growth, we’d love to hear from you.
