ShortList is looking for an experienced Data Governance Analyst to play a pivotal role in the Cyber team for our established NW client. The Data Governance Analyst will play a key role in protecting corporate data and report directly into the Head of Cyber Security. The role is fundamentally responsible for ensuring data is correctly identified, classified, retained, and secured. You will also be overseeing the compliance with internal policies, standards, and regulatory requirements. The Data Governance Analyst will primarily work with Microsoft Purview, so experience with this platform is essential. You’ll work closely with teams across the business to embed effective data governance practices and ensure data is managed securely and consistently. This Data Governance Analyst role is based just outside of Chester and requires 2 days per week on site.

Key requirements for the Data Governance Analyst role:

  • Solid knowledge of data governance fundamentals, including data retention, classification, and security controls
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Purview
  • Experience creating and maintaining clear, accurate documentation and reporting
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills
  • Understanding of data protection and privacy legislation
  • Experience designing and implementing data governance policies and processes
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams
  • Relevant certifications such as CIPM, CIPP/E, or equivalent data governance qualifications
