Shorterm Group is currently looking for a skilled Commercial Estimating Engineer to join an established engineering company based in South Oxfordshire.

Skills & Experience:

  • Apprentice-trained engineer or similar engineering discipline
  • Strong background in mechanical engineering
  • Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings and technical information
  • Positive, can-do attitude with a flexible approach and strong work ethic
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing techniques would be advantageous
  • Previous experience as an Account Manager within an engineering company would be beneficial

Main Responsibilities:

  • Produce accurate methods and cost estimates from engineering drawings or digitally provided data, ensuring all relevant information is captured and clearly documented within agreed timeframes
  • Project manage new business opportunities, including generating project plans and supporting documentation
  • Complete and conduct quick-load activities for new orders, ensuring all specifications and material requirements are captured prior to production
  • Negotiate raw material pricing and purchasing requirements, liaising with suppliers and sourcing new suppliers for subcontract and outwork processes
  • Monitor contract profitability and review pricing with production and supply chain teams where appropriate, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement
