About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Head of Electrical and Renewables Training to lead and grow our specialist training division. This is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and delivering the strategic vision for electrical and renewables training, ensuring high-quality training provision, commercial growth, operational excellence and exceptional customer outcomes. Reporting to the Director of Training, you will lead a team of managers, trainers and support staff, driving performance, innovation and continuous improvement across the division. You will play a key role in shaping future training provision, responding to industry demands and supporting the growth of the business. Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and People Management
    • Lead, inspire and develop a high-performing management team.

    • Manage performance across the division through regular reviews, appraisals and coaching.
  • Strategic Development
    • Develop and implement the long-term strategy for the Electrical and Renewables Training division.
    • Create and deliver business plans that support sustainable growth over the next 12 to 24 months.
    • Drive innovation and ensure training programmes remain relevant, competitive and commercially successful.
  • Business Development and Growth
    • Lead business development activities to secure profitable new business opportunities.
    • Support the team in winning and managing key accounts and strategic partnerships.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and industry partners.
    • Oversee the preparation of bids, tenders and proposals to maximise business opportunities.
  • Customer and Account Management
    • Ensure the delivery of exceptional customer service across all training activities.
    • Support the management of key client relationships and identify opportunities for growth.
    • Work closely with customers to understand training requirements and provide effective solutions.
    • Promote cross-selling opportunities across the wider training portfolio.
  • Quality and Compliance
    • Lead the division's quality assurance and compliance activities.
    • Maintain and improve standards relating to regulatory and awarding body requirements.
    • Support quality improvement initiatives, self-assessment activities and continuous improvement planning.
    • Ensure all training delivery meets internal and external quality standards.
  • Training Delivery and Curriculum Development
    • Ensure all training programmes are current, relevant and aligned to industry requirements.
    • Oversee curriculum development across electrical and renewable energy disciplines.
    • Monitor trainer capability and implement development plans to meet customer demand.
  • Financial Management
    • Lead annual budgeting and forecasting activities for the division.
    • Manage profit and loss performance, balancing commercial growth with operational efficiency.
  • Health, Safety and Safeguarding
    • Promote a strong health and safety culture throughout the division.
    • Lead safeguarding and wellbeing initiatives, ensuring all concerns are appropriately managed and escalated.

About You

  • A minimum of three years' experience in a senior training leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of the electrical, energy, utilities or renewables training sector.
  • Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrable success in business development, account management and commercial growth.
  • Experience managing budgets, forecasts and profit and loss accounts.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance and compliance within a training environment.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Advanced IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A degree-level qualification or equivalent experience would be advantageous.
