Are you looking for an introduction into working on the Railway? Shorterm Limited are looking for a number of Trainees to enter a 12 month fast track training and mentorship programme that involves a combination of classroom based training, on the job instruction and mentoring in a live maintenance environment. The course will be an intensive training programme inclusive of all safety training to enable working on the railway, technical training on the foundations of Maintenance and equipment specific training to ensure that the workers have the required knowledge to be a fully contributory team member. The role is shift work encompassing regular day, night and weekend working. The position pays a salary starting at £29,120 with a standard 35 hour working week, premium rates are offered for night and weekend working. The successful candidates will be offered a 12 month fixed term contract inclusive of a structured development program inclusive of over 40 days training. Additionally, they will be provided all required PPE and assigned a mentor to assist with your integration into the team and the new working environment. This role is predominately site based work and such, entails a considerable amount of outdoor working. Appropriate PPE is provided, wet weather gear, etc. and within reason, work is carried out in all weather conditions so a level of hardiness and willingness to work in various weather conditions is required. To be considered for this role, you will need to meet the following criteria: * Basic understanding of Electrical or Mechanical Systems, ideally with a technical qualification, City & Guilds, Apprenticeship, etc. * Excellent written & verbal communication skills * Commitment to developing skills and working towards new qualifications & competence. * A valid UK driving license and own transport (for commuting to and from work, transport provided for all work travel) * Right to work in the UK.
