Senior Stress Engineer – Aerospace Kidderminster, UK Full-time, Permanent – Fully on-site first 6 Months Hybrid Working – Up to 1 day per week after 6-month probation Β£45,000 – Β£60,000 basic + benefits About the Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Stress Engineer to join our Design team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the full lifecycle of advanced aerospace projects which span from research and design through to development, production, and customer support. In this role, you will act as the structural technical authority across multiple products, leading stress analysis activities and providing guidance to colleagues. You will be at the forefront of cutting-edge engineering, applying your expertise to high-performance systems used in demanding defence environments. Key Responsibilities – Conduct structural and thermal Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of aerospace hardware and propellant systems (using Abaqus). – Analyse materials and bondlines, with emphasis on composites, rubbers, adhesives, and viscoelastic behaviour. – Develop and review structural test plans, oversee test execution, and assess results. – Interpret rheological test data to support FEA model validation and verification. – Produce technical documentation including analysis reports, test plans, and certification records. – Act as a structural authority in project meetings, design reviews, and customer interactions. – Provide peer review and mentoring support within the design team. – Lead or support new technology research programmes, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery. Requirements – Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural, or related engineering discipline. – Minimum of 6 years\’ experience in stress engineering, preferably in defence or aerospace. – Proficiency in Abaqus FEA software. – Strong knowledge of material science (composites, adhesives, viscoelastic and rheological behaviour). – Experience with Fortran, Matlab, Altair-Hyperworks OR CAD modelling (advantageous). – Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Access.
