Production Planner & Systems Support (precision engineering) Portsmouth Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 (dependent on experience) Location: On-site Hours: Monday-Thursday: 08:00-17:00 (30-minute unpaid lunch), Friday: 08:00-13:00 Interview Process: One-stage interview with the Group Operations Director About the Role: We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Production Planner & Systems Support professional to join our team. This is a key role responsible for planning and managing manufacturing operations to ensure flexibility, efficiency, and on-time delivery. You will also play a critical role in maintaining and developing our ERP/MRP systems to support ongoing business growth. Key Responsibilities: Monitor and analyse Sales Order requirements, identifying constraints and risks Develop and maintain the Machine Shop Production Plan, including recovery actions Expedite material and capacity shortages to meet OTDIF targets and reduce lead times Issue Work Orders (Job Packs) and Work-to Lists, agreeing throughput targets Manage production output against agreed delivery and efficiency targets Escalate risks and exceptions to support timely decision-making Maintain and update ERP data including routings and planning parameters Support implementation and optimisation of ERP and Production Scheduling systems Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives across departments Analyse performance data from machines and operations Liaise daily with customers to ensure excellent service delivery Take a hands-on, proactive approach within the production team Continuous Improvement Focus Ensure accurate ERP bookings across production teams Identify and resolve OTDIF issues through daily meetings and escalation Set and manage Re-Order Levels (ROL) and Quantities (ROQ) with financial approval Develop best-practice tools aligned with ERP usage Conduct capacity analysis to identify and resolve bottlenecks Promote Visual Management on the shop floor Support the rollout of Quick Response Manufacturing (QRM) principles Key Performance Indicators: On-Time Delivery In-Full (OTDIF) and lead time reduction Production efficiency Adherence to production plans Reduction in sales arrears About You Qualifications & Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience with MRP/ERP and MPS systems in a production, logistics, or PPC environment NVQ Level 3 (or higher) Experience in precision component manufacturing Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel Skills & Competencies: Strong understanding of ERP/MRP planning principles High level of computer literacy and confidence with integrated systems Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) Strong organisational and prioritisation abilities Why Join Us?
