We are currently recruiting experienced Precision Inspectors to join our team supporting a leading UK-based Formula 1 team. This is an exciting opportunity for skilled inspection professionals to work within a world-class, high-performance engineering environment.
The Role
As a Precision Inspector, you will be responsible for inspecting high-quality precision components, analysing inspection results, and ensuring all parts meet strict engineering and quality requirements. You will work with advanced inspection equipment and systems, supporting production and engineering teams by providing accurate measurement data and maintaining exceptional quality standards.
Key Responsibilities & Skills
- Perform precision inspection using CMM equipment, manual metrology equipment, and scanning systems
- Operate and run pre-written CMM inspection programs
- Create, edit, and run advanced PC-DMIS programs (online and offline) where required
- Analyse detailed inspection reports and identify issues
- Develop and support PolyWorks programs for 7-axis scanning arms
- Produce clear and detailed inspection reports
- Build probes and complete calibration programs
- Ensure all calibration procedures are followed correctly
- Use 6 and 7-axis scanning arms and vision inspection systems
- Carry out manual inspection using a wide range of metrology equipment, including:
- Micrometers
- Vernier callipers
- Bore micrometers
- Height gauges
- Slip gauges
- Pin gauges
- DTI clocks
- Shadow graphs
- Thread gauges
- Spline gauges
- Interpret complex engineering drawings
- Apply GD&T principles to inspection requirements
- Use laser part marking equipment
- Follow written and verbal instructions accurately
- Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to resolve quality issues
Experience & Skills Required
- Strong background in precision inspection or metrology
- Experience within automotive, aerospace, motorsport, or advanced manufacturing environments is preferred
- Knowledge of CMM inspection and measurement techniques
- PC-DMIS and/or PolyWorks experience desirable
- Good understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T
- Competent IT skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Strong communication skills
- A proactive team player with a positive 'can-do' attitude
