Type: contract to start before moving to permanent after approx. a month
Start Date: Immediate
Shifts: 5 days per week (out of 7, shift to be confirmed)
Hours: 9-hour shifts / 45 hours per week
Salary: £17.52 per hour / £41,000 + per annum + overtime + shift uplift
The Role
We're looking for experienced MMA welders with a mechanical background to join the team in Peterborough. The work focuses on vehicle maintenance, including repairs and occasional corrosion work. When not welding, you'll also provide basic fitting support.
What to Expect
- Initial competency training in Peterborough, followed by rotation with existing staff
- Drug and alcohol test required after a successful interview
- Paid PTS (Personal Track Safety) course in your first week
- In the future, shift patterns may change. At least one month's notice will be given. This may include nights and weekends, which will attract a 15% pay uplift.
Key Responsibilities
- Reactive and preventative maintenance
- Vehicle examinations (full training provided)
- Supporting slinging and lifting tasks
- Working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Occasional lodging when required (once competent)
What We're Looking For
- Strong MMA welding experience (certifications preferred)
- Solid mechanical background (all industries considered)
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience with wagons or rolling stock is beneficial but not essential
- Willingness to work outdoors and attend breakdowns off-site
- Flexibility for occasional overnight stays
