Water Network Technician Location: London, Greater London & Thames Valley Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time Shift Pattern: Days & 1 week in 4 Nights Our client is a leading provider of water network services and is currently seeking experienced Water Network Technicians to join their growing operational team. This is an excellent opportunity for skilled water industry professionals looking to take ownership of critical network activities, support operational excellence, and contribute to the safe and reliable delivery of clean water services across the region. The Role As a Water Network Technician, you will play a key role in maintaining network performance, protecting water quality, and ensuring operational activities are delivered safely and efficiently. Working across clean water distribution networks, you will independently plan, coordinate and deliver a wide range of operational activities while providing technical expertise and supporting the development of less experienced colleagues. Key Responsibilities Plan and undertake complex distribution main, trunk main and transmission main isolations with no interruption to customer supply. Carry out asset proving and operability checks. Undertake mains tracing and asset identification activities. Conduct network investigations and diagnostic assessments. Deliver directional flushing programmes. Support water quality activities including sample collection, risk mitigation and incident response. Deploy network loggers and interpret operational data. Complete customer impact assessments and complex customer investigations. Supervise contractors and ensure compliance with operational standards. Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships. Support incident response and escalation activities. Coach, mentor and develop Operatives and Academy learners. Ensure all activities are completed safely and in line with industry regulations and company procedures. What We're Looking For Safety Leadership You lead by example, promote a strong safety culture and challenge unsafe behaviours when required. Technical Expertise You have a solid understanding of water distribution networks and the ability to work confidently across a broad range of network operations activities. Operational Decision-Making You can assess risk, analyse information and make sound decisions in both planned and reactive situations. Customer Focus You understand the impact operational decisions have on customers and can balance technical requirements with service delivery expectations. Essential Requirements Full UK Driving Licence. Basic DBS clearance. First Aid qualification. EUSR National Water Hygiene certificate. NRSWA Streetworks qualification. Proven experience within water network operations. Experience carrying out mains isolation activities. Good understanding of water quality principles. Experience using network monitoring and diagnostic equipment. Ability to interpret network drawings, schematics and GIS information. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Leakage detection experience. Desirable Experience Confined Space Training. Trunk Main Operations experience. Pressure management experience. Contractor management experience.
