Shorterm Group have teamed up with a French-Anglo defence company who are looking to appoint a Technical Design Engineer to join their future Factory team.
The Role: As a Technical Engineer, you'll support the successful delivery of key construction and M&E elements within their site Modernisation Programme. Reporting to the Site Modernisation Manager, you will ensure that project objectives are met through sound engineering methods and proactive stakeholder coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the day-to-day coordination of construction and M&E projects
- Monitor project timelines, identifying and mitigating potential delays
- Manage and maintain key project documents related to schedule and cost
- Develop HSE documentation in line with templates and legal standards
- Liaise with internal teams, subcontractors, and support functions
- Attend cross-functional meetings relating to safety, cost, and engineering progress
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
- BTEC in Mechanical Engineering
- Construction or Electrical qualification
- Strong knowledge of construction methodology and M&E installations
- Ability to interpret construction, mechanical, and electrical schematics
Desirable:
- 2+ years as a project engineer or coordinator (ideally in construction or FM)
- AutoCAD experience
- Apprenticeship in a relevant discipline
Person Profile:
- A confident team player with excellent communication skills
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable leading or contributing to meetings and briefings
- Willingness to travel across the UK with occasional overnight stays
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially MS Project
