We are seeking a skilled and dedicated F-Gas Qualified Automotive Engineer to join our team, working on Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) such as buses and coaches. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing air conditioning and refrigeration systems on PSVs, ensuring they comply with all safety and environmental regulations. This role demands a high level of expertise in HVAC systems, strong diagnostic skills, and a commitment to maintaining service excellence and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain air conditioning and refrigeration systems on PSVs, ensuring compliance with F-Gas regulations and company standards.
  • Perform preventive maintenance checks on HVAC systems and components, including compressors, evaporators, condensers, and refrigerant lines.
  • Recharge and handle refrigerants in line with F-Gas certification and environmental guidelines.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot any electrical or mechanical issues within the air conditioning systems, repairing or replacing parts as necessary.
  • Record all service and repair activities accurately in maintenance logs and report any issues to the Workshop Manager.
  • Adhere to health, safety, and environmental standards, ensuring the safe disposal and handling of refrigerants.
  • Assist with routine vehicle inspections and other PSV maintenance duties as required by the team.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other technicians and apprentices on HVAC-related matters.

Requirements:

  • F-Gas certification (Category I) to handle fluorinated greenhouse gases in air conditioning systems.
  • Proven experience in HVAC systems, within the automotive, rail, marine or PSV sector.
  • Technical knowledge of PSV or automotive electrical systems and HVAC equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, especially in regulatory compliance and safety procedures.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications in HVAC/R systems, automotive engineering, or a similar discipline.

  • Job Type: Full-Time, permanent employed, PAYE role
  • Shift Type: Monday - Friday (early & late shifts) 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm alternating weekly
