Your role is to lead the cable systems design for the business. Our client is expanding and needs another person who will ensure their growth remains on track.
You will provide system design support from tender stage through to delivery on site. To ensure that such a cable system design is in line with client's requirements you will use CYMCAP or ELEK for IEC60287 cable ratings.
Initially, close liaison with the Design and Engineering and Bid team to produce the initial cable design system including:
- Selection and specification of cable, accessory and equipment types
- Earthing and bonding methodology
- Recommendations for installation solutions to issues that arise in construction
Your key accountabilities are:
- Earthing and Bonding Diagrams and Arrangements
- Trench Section / proposed installation techniques
- Work closely with the Tendering team
- Work closely with Site managers post order
- Cable and Cable system design expertise including knowledge of:
- Cable System Design - National Grid Technical Specifications
- IEC Specifications
- Terminations and Accessories
- Rating Calculations in accordance with IEC60287
- Thermo-mechanical Calculations (Cable Thrust and Cleat Force) (Cigre 669)
- Trench configurations, direct lay, ducted and trough solutions including HDD
- Induced Sheath Voltage Calculations (steady state and fault conditions)
- Cable Pulling Calculations
- Ladder Rack and Steelwork systems
You will also:
- Produce Design Risk Assessments
- Participate in factory auditing and FAT as requested
- Assist in production of FEED documentation
This work is hybrid, with 2 days per week in the office.
Would suit a Design Engineer, Senior Designer, or a TP141 HV Cabling Engineer.
