Salary: £40,018.66 per annum Employment Type: 14 months FTC About the Company: My client is a leading provider of high-quality maintenance, servicing, and overhaul of railway rolling stock, including passenger carriages, locomotives, freight wagons, and specialist track plant. With a strong presence across the UK, operations are strategically based at six key locations: Crewe, Bristol, Eastleigh, Cambridge, Tyne Yard, and Scarborough. The Opportunity: An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Heavy Maintenance team based at the Crewe depot. This fixed-term role is ideal for an experienced and motivated engineering professional eager to contribute to high-profile refurbishment and maintenance projects within the rail industry. The role will involve a diverse range of tasks depending on project requirements, with a focus on both mechanical and electrical work. Key responsibilities include the interior refurbishment of rail vehicles-such as the installation and fitting of floors, seating, wall panels, tables, doors, and windows-as well as electrical installations, modifications, and component replacements in line with industry procedures and technical specifications. Key Responsibilities: * Perform scheduled maintenance and major overhauls on rail vehicles in accordance with set standards and operational procedures. * Execute assigned tasks provided by the Service Delivery Leader, ensuring high-quality workmanship and compliance with engineering standards. * Operate rail vehicles within depot limits, following all relevant safety and operating procedures. * Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, documentation processes, and Visual Management Instructions (VMI). * Complete job documentation and sign-off worksheets upon the completion of assigned tasks. * Ensure consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in line with both local instructions and industry regulations. * Work collaboratively with other team members to meet project deadlines and quality benchmarks. * Support continuous improvement initiatives within the depot. What You\’ll Bring: * Qualifications: Minimum of a Level 3 qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Multi-skilled). * Experience: Prior experience in the maintenance, refurbishment, or overhaul of rail vehicles is highly desirable. * Technical Knowledge: o Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles. o Familiarity with depot operations and rail industry standards. o Ability to read, interpret, and work from technical drawings and wiring diagrams. * Skills: o Skilled in the installation and termination of vehicle control wiring harnesses. o Competency in the replacement of traction components and performing modifications as per engineering procedures. o Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to safety and compliance.
