Shorterm Group is currently recruiting for an experienced Precision Quality Engineer to join a high-performing precision engineering manufacturer operating to world-class quality standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a quality professional with a strong background in high-accuracy CNC manufacturing to play a key role in maintaining and improving robust quality systems.

Working within a micron-level precision environment, you will ensure components meet exacting customer, regulatory, and industry standards including ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100. You will be heavily involved in inspection planning, non-conformance management, root cause analysis, and driving controlled process improvements in collaboration with production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain quality control plans, inspection strategies, and work instructions
  • Perform and oversee first article, in-process, and final inspection using advanced metrology equipment
  • Lead and organise Measurement System Analysis (MSA), including Gauge R&R studies
  • Investigate defects and manage non-conformances (NCRs) using 8D, 5 Whys, and CAPA methodologies
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce scrap, improve yield, and enhance process capability
  • Conduct supplier quality activities, including audits and material compliance reviews
  • Collaborate closely with production teams to support controlled process changes
  • Promote and maintain world-class quality standards across the manufacturing environment

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Essential:

  • HNC/HND/Degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven experience in a high-precision CNC manufacturing quality environment
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings
  • Hands-on experience with CMMs, measurement arms (scan & probe), and advanced metrology equipment
  • Competence in MSA, SPC, capability studies, and quality data analysis
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills

Desirable:

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
  • Experience with Lean / Six Sigma tools
  • Proficiency with inspection and CAD/CAM software such as PolyWorks, PowerInspect, PC-DMIS, or similar
  • Familiarity with ERP / MRP systems for manufacturing and quality data analysis
