We are looking for an experienced Marine Field Service Engineer to join a well-established and respected marine engineering organisation. This role offers the chance to work on a wide range of marine diesel engines and generator systems across commercial vessels, offshore assets, and marine installations throughout Europe.
As a Marine Field Service Engineer you will be based at home in the Netherlands, you will travel to customer sites, ports, shipyards, and vessels, carrying out servicing, repairs, overhauls, installations, and commissioning. Typically the assignments are between two and three weeks in duration, with occasional larger projects lasting up to four weeks.
This position would suit an engineer with strong hands-on experience working with marine propulsion and power generation equipment who enjoys travel, technical challenges, and working in varied marine environments.
Key Responsibilities of Marine Field Service Engineer
- Carry out servicing, maintenance, repair, overhaul, installation, and commissioning of marine diesel engines and generator systems.
- Attend vessels, shipyards, offshore platforms, and customer sites throughout Europe and occasionally worldwide.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and implement effective repair solutions.
- Perform inspections and preventative maintenance activities to maximise equipment reliability.
- Prepare for service assignments by ensuring the availability of required tools, spare parts, and documentation.
- Produce detailed service reports and technical documentation following site visits.
- Identify additional work requirements and communicate recommendations to customers and management.
- Support vessel crews and customers with technical advice and troubleshooting assistance.
- Work independently or as part of a team on major overhauls and project activities.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company and industry standards.
Skills & Experience of Marine Field Service Engineer
- Proven experience servicing and maintaining marine diesel engines and generator systems.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills within marine propulsion and power generation equipment.
- Experience working with marine gearboxes, clutches, auxiliary machinery, and associated systems would be highly advantageous.
- Self-motivated with excellent customer-facing and communication skills.
- Comfortable working onboard vessels, in shipyards, and within offshore environments.
Qualifications & Requirements of Marine Field Service Engineer
- Full valid driving licence.
- Ability to travel extensively throughout Europe and internationally when required.
- UK or EU passport holder preferred.
- Experience working on medium-speed and high-speed marine engines.
- Previous marine field service, marine engineering, or shipboard engineering experience.
