Reporting To: Senior Operations Manager
Role Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Production Manager to join our client's rolling stock refurbishment team based in Derby. This role is critical to the efficient and safe running of operations and requires strong leadership, a hands-on approach, and a commitment to continuous improvement. The successful candidate will support the Senior Operations Manager in overseeing production, ensuring health and safety standards are met, and delivering successfully against the client's deadlines. You will help drive operational performance, support staff development, and ensure smooth transitions across production stages. The activities will be overseeing teams of Mechanical/Electrical Modification Technicians and a large paint team who are refurbishing full trains.
Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of performance targets across all production.
- Record and report near misses, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions.
- Ensure strict adherence to Health & Safety procedures across all departments.
- Conduct disciplinary investigations and hearings where required.
- Support onboarding of new starters in collaboration with the training mentor.
- Maintain high performance standards through consistent and fair management.
- Collaborate with the Senior Operations Manager to set and deliver production targets.
- Oversee key production processes across all shifts and stages.
- Monitor and evaluate time and motion studies where applicable.
- Lead initiatives focused on process improvement and cost reduction.
- Assist in managing contract transitions to ensure uninterrupted production flow.
- Uphold and enforce Health & Safety standards throughout all areas of production while ensuring the right quality standards are delivered.
