Client Summary: A well established and growing Rail Engineering company based in Derby.

Position Summary: A supporting position within the Procurement and Buying function of a growing Rail Engineering company. The role will heavily centre on the monitoring of material availability and demand in line with project and delivery. The candidate will be responsible for managing such data via Excel.

  • Raising and managing purchase orders for projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely placement.
  • Managing Open Order Book, ensuring deviations are controlled, recorded, and resolved in line with production needs.
  • Identifying and communicating progress, risks, and constraints clearly to all departments, supporting informed decision-making.
  • Monitoring material availability and demand to ensure projects remain on track.
  • Serve as the single point of contact for production area, coordinating information between procurement and operations.
  • Expedite suppliers to meet project and production requirements, including active engagement with key suppliers.
  • Maintaining clear, accurate, and up-to-date planning boards, trackers, and KPIs.

Person Profile/Experience:

  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Strong understanding of MRP and material planning in a project or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience placing and managing purchase orders, ideally within engineering.
  • Strong supplier management and expediting experience.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Confident working as a cross-functional coordinator and single point of contact.
