Client Summary: A leading, well recognised global manufacturer of Agricultural machinery
Key Duties:
- Manage a dedicated portfolio of internal and external suppliers, taking ownership of a defined catalogue of material and part numbers.
- Liaise and manage our supply base ensuring good lines of communication are developed and maintained to provide continuity of supply.
- Monitor material requirements generated from customer tractor orders, ensuring all required parts are delivered to site in line with production schedules.
- Handle daily component shortages for MBU activities ensuring prompt delivery of scheduled material requirements.
- Liaise with suppliers on a daily basis to obtain delivery commitments and proactively follow up on outstanding orders.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers to ensure parts are prioritised and delivered on time.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments including Production, Quality, Warehouse and Manufacturing to resolve material-related queries.
- Investigate and escalate potential supply issues, working with suppliers and internal stakeholders to minimise disruption to production.
- Maintain accurate records and update planning information within the company's ERP/MRP system.
- Engage appropriate transport methods to meet delivery deadlines.
- Track supplier performance and provide regular updates on delivery status and any potential risks.
- Look continuously for opportunities to improve. Propose and implement solutions in order to guarantee deliveries on time, without extra transportation cost and reducing our inventory.
- Prepare analytical reports when required.
- Respond promptly to material shortages, missing parts or delivery concerns to support uninterrupted production.
- Occasionally visit the shop floor to investigate material issues, locate missing parts and work collaboratively with operational teams to resolve problems.
- Ensure all administrative tasks relating to material planning and supplier communication are completed accurately and within agreed timescales.
Person Profile/Experience:
- Previous experience in a Materials Planner, Supply Planner, Production Planner or Inventory Planner role.
- Experience working within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Strong understanding of MRP/ERP planning systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships internally and externally.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.
- A proactive, detail-oriented approach with a continuous improvement mindset.
