Shorterm Group are currently working with a leading precision engineering manufacturer to recruit an experienced CMM Programmer / Inspector to join their growing Quality team in Andover. This is an exciting opportunity to join a modern, forward-thinking manufacturing business supplying high-specification components into industries such as automotive, motorsport, defence, and medical.

The Role

As a CMM Programmer, you will play a key role in ensuring that complex precision-engineered components meet exacting quality standards. You'll be responsible for programming and running CMM equipment, supporting production, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Programming and operating CMM machines using PC-DMIS
  • Inspecting high-precision machined components
  • Creating, editing, and optimising CMM programmes
  • Interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T specifications
  • Carrying out first-off, in-process, and final inspections
  • Completing detailed inspection reports and documentation
  • Using manual inspection equipment (micrometres, verniers, gauges, height gauges)
  • Supporting root cause analysis and quality improvements
  • Working cross-functionally with Production and Engineering teams
  • Maintaining a clean and organised inspection environment

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience programming and operating CMM machines
  • Strong knowledge of PC-DMIS software
  • Excellent understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Experience within precision engineering or manufacturing environments
  • Strong attention to detail and quality-driven mindset
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively

Desirable

  • Experience within automotive, motorsport, defence, or medical sectors
  • Understanding of quality systems and continuous improvement practices
