From Drawings to £££s - Learn How Projects Are Won.
What does it take to turn a set of drawings into a successful project?

It starts with understanding the detail.

Our client specialises in Trace Heating and Thermal Insulation Solutions for industrial, commercial and utility customers. With more than 20 years' experience and a growing order book, they are now looking for a Trainee Estimator to join the team in Rotherham.

This is an opportunity for someone who understands the basics of mechanical or insulation work and wants to take that knowledge off the tools, out of the workshop or site - and into the world of estimating.

What will you be doing?
You'll learn how to break down projects, understand what they're going to take to deliver and, ultimately, work out what they need to cost.

You'll be involved in:

Reading drawings, specifications and tender documents.
Carrying out quantity take-offs for pipework, ductwork, vessels and tanks.
Calculating labour, materials and subcontractor costs.
Working with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
Preparing quotations, tenders and detailed commercial breakdowns.
Identifying risks, opportunities and value-engineering ideas.
Getting out to site for surveys and pre-tender meetings when required.
Supporting negotiations and handing projects over once contracts are won.

You'll be supported as you develop, giving you the opportunity to build a strong understanding of both the technical and commercial sides of the industry.

Who are we looking for?

We're not necessarily looking for someone who already knows everything.
We're looking for someone with the right foundations and the right attitude.

You could already have experience in:

Thermal insulation
Mechanical engineering
Pipework
Construction
Quantity surveying
Estimating
A technical or site-based engineering role

You should be comfortable working with numbers, able to understand technical drawings and have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Most importantly, you'll be curious, organised, commercially aware and keen to learn.

Why this opportunity?
The client is an established specialist business with more than two decades of industry experience and they are still growing.

That means you'll have the opportunity to learn from experienced people, work on a variety of projects and develop skills that can take you a long way.

If you've been looking for a way to progress your career, develop your technical knowledge and move into estimating, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

Ready to take the next step?
If you're ambitious, switched-on and ready to learn, we want to hear from you.
