This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated Early Years Teaching Assistant to join our nursery team during a significant period of growth and development.

Following the recent expansion of our nursery provision to welcome 2-year-olds, we are looking for a skilled practitioner to lead a family group of children and play a key role in supporting their learning, development and wellbeing.

We are seeking someone who has a strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, sound knowledge of child development within the birth to three age phase and the 3-4 years age phase, and experience of observing and assessing children's learning.

We are looking for someone who can

  • Demonstrate high-quality interactions that support children's learning and development.
  • Lead by example, modelling excellent early years practice.
  • Build positive, nurturing relationships with children and their families.
  • Remain calm, organised and solution-focused when faced with the daily challenges of a busy nursery environment.
  • Have a good understanding of how to plan for and support children with identified high needs, adapting provision and using a range of approaches to ensure they are fully included and make strong progress from their individual starting points.
  • Work closely with the SENDCo, families and external professionals to implement strategies that help children make progress and thrive.
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children.
  • Champion inclusion and ensure every child feels valued, supported and able to succeed.

About Us

Our nursery is a warm, welcoming and inclusive environment where children feel safe, respected and cared for. Strong relationships are at the heart of everything we do, recognised by our community and OFSTED.

We believe that children learn best when they feel secure, happy and confident. Through consistent routines, clear expectations and responsive adults, we help children develop a sense of belonging and independence.

We encourage children to make choices, follow their interests and become active participants in their own learning. Our curriculum promotes curiosity, creativity and a love of learning, while ensuring that every child experiences success.

This role offers the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated and supportive team, contribute to our expanding provision and make a genuine difference to children's early experiences and outcomes.

Short Heath Federation is an equal opportunities employer. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, keeping children safe in education and promoting British Values in school and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

The post is subject to an Enhanced DBS disclosure check and a completed Disqualification by Association form, along with relevant pre-employment checks, including two suitable professional references.
