We are looking for an inspiring peripatetic music teacher to teach Piano & Violin, to join our established team of peripatetic music teachers who work at Thorpe Hall School. You will be a music teacher with the ability and passion to interest and inspire children of all ages who want to begin their musical journey with individual instrument lessons. You must be able to teach to a minimum of Grade 6 piano and above along with Violin.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, resource, arrange music for and deliver imaginative, interactive and inspiring instrumental lessons that ensure effective learning and excellent pupil progress.
  • With direction from the Head of Music, plan and prepare effective peripatetic instrumental lessons and ensemble lessons.
  • Teach engaging and effective lessons that motivate, inspire and involve pupils and improve attainment.
  • Use regular assessments to monitor progress and set targets.
  • Maintain regular and productive communication with parents, reporting on progress, sanctions and achievements.
  • Be accountable for pupil progress and attainment levels of pupils who receive instrumental lessons.
  • Maintain/establish positive behaviour for learning.
  • Actively support concerts and music events at the school.
  • Maintain a presence around the school to ensure high standards of behaviour and site usage.
  • Communicate and liaise with staff, pupils, parents and governors as appropriate.
  • Be active in issues of staff and pupil welfare and support.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to Equality of Opportunity for all members of the school\’s community.
  • Contribute to safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people with regard to Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE).

Requirements

  • Minimum qualification/ability to teach piano to Grade 6 or above and proficiency in violin.
  • Ability to plan engaging lessons, assess progress, and communicate effectively with parents.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
