The Christus Catholic Trust and the Local Governing Committee of this vibrant and successful school wish to appoint a Teaching and Learning Assistant to join our friendly and dedicated staff team. St Thomas' is a popular school, founded in 1886, boasting an excellent local reputation with facilities that provide an engaging working and learning environment. We are a 3 form entry school, located on an attractive site, catering for around 630 pupils from a community which embraces diversity. The suitable candidate will be:

  • Enthusiastic, confident and able to show initiative and resilience
  • An effective communicator with pupils and staff
  • Self-motivated with high expectations of self and others
  • Holding at least an A - C pass in GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • Capable of building and maintaining effective relationships with pupils, treating them with respect and consideration

The successful applicant would be expected to:

  • Be committed to providing a 'child-centred nurturing' ethos, collaborative teamwork and flexible working
  • Work under direct supervision of the class teachers/SENCo and be expected to use their own initiative to organise activities and tasks
  • Contribute to creating a positive, stimulating and purposeful learning environment
  • Work in partnership with other Support Staff
  • Provide feedback to the class teacher on pupil's progress
  • Support the class teacher in planning differentiated work for pupils
  • Have good organisation and communication skills
  • Create simple resources to support the pupils' work, as appropriate
  • Attend INSET days and training as identified by the Head teacher
  • Be fully supportive of the Catholic ethos of the school
