Overview

Waterman Primary School is seeking a part-time SEND Learning Support Assistant on a fixed-term basis until July 2026. The post is linked to funding and may end earlier; further discussion will be held at interview. Hours: 20 hours per week, 9am to 12pm, Monday to Friday. Term time plus 5 additional non-pupil days (39 working weeks / 44.65 paid weeks).

Responsibilities

  • Work with individuals or small groups of children with SEND under the direction of teaching staff
  • Implement planned learning activities / teaching programmes as agreed with colleagues, adjusting activities according to pupil response
  • Support pupils with literacy and numeracy skills
  • Promote inclusion of children with SEND within the classroom and during non-class-based learning, ensuring access to learning through clarification, explanation and resources
  • Monitor and record pupil activities
  • Assist with social, welfare and health matters, including minor first aid and administration of medication

Qualifications

  • Applicants must have achieved Grade C or above in English and Maths
  • Educated to NVQ Level 2 in learning support/early years, NNEB or possess equivalent qualification/experience
