We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated SEND Learning Support Assistant to join our friendly team. The successful candidate must have a depth of knowledge and experience supporting SEND as well as the ability to work well as part of a team.

Duties will include:

  • Support individual pupils and small groups with learning activities
  • Help implement tailored support strategies and interventions
  • Encourage positive behaviour, independence and engagement
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff
  • Assist with classroom preparation and resources
  • Support pupils' social, emotional and pastoral needs where required
  • Understanding of children's personal needs, including social, health and hygiene
  • Providing intervention support
  • Recording progress of pupils against interventions
  • Reviewing Personal learning plans including behaviour plans
  • Working alongside the Class Teacher to write and implement Personal Learning Plans with support from the SENCO
  • Carrying out specific assessments as requested.

The ideal applicant MUST have:

  • Experience of working within a primary school
  • A positive, nurturing manner and approach
  • Deep understanding of supporting children with additional needs
  • Maths and English at GCSE level with at least a grade C
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Working knowledge and experience of supporting pupils with sensory needs
  • Must have experience working with children who have social communication needs
  • Working knowledge of how to support and develop language/communication skills
