Prettygate Schools and Gosbecks Primary are seeking to appoint a dedicated and proactive SENCO Assistant to work across our school partnership.
30 hours per week/38 weeks per year
Fixed Term from 1st September 2026 – 31st August 2027
Job Purpose: To provide high-quality administrative support to the SENCOs, ensuring the effective coordination, organisation, and documentation of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision across the three schools.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and confidential SEND records, including pupil files and provision maps
- Support the administration of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), including reviews and annual meetings
- Coordinate and schedule meetings with parents, staff, and external professionals
- Prepare documentation, reports, and correspondence related to SEND provision
- Track and update pupil progress data and intervention records
- Assist with referrals to external agencies and ensure timely submission of paperwork
- Manage communication between the SENCO, teachers, parents, and outside professionals
- Organise and maintain SEND resources and filing systems (digital and paper-based)
- Support the SENCO in monitoring compliance with statutory requirements and deadlines
- Assist with funding applications and record-keeping (e.g. top-up funding where applicable)
Person Specification
- Previous administrative experience, ideally in a school or educational setting
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and school data systems
- Experience working with SEND processes or EHCP documentation
- Familiarity with school management information systems (e.g. SIMS, CPOMS)
- Knowledge of UK SEND Code of Practice
- Discreet, professional, and approachable
- Well‑organised and proactive
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Calm under pressure and able to manage competing priorities
