St Nicholas C of E Primary School (Rayleigh) invites applications for a SEND Midday Assistant to work 1:1 with a registered blind (Year 5) pupil. The role is essential to support and maintain the pupil’s safety, welfare and meal times during lunchtime (11:50 am – 1:05 pm, Monday‑Friday, 6 hours 15 minutes per week, term‑time only).
Responsibilities
- Support and uphold the safety and welfare of the pupil during the midday break.
- Assist with meal times where necessary, ensuring nutritional needs and dietary requirements are met.
- Maintain a calm, inclusive and caring environment that respects confidentiality.
- Work independently while collaborating with the school team to provide continuity of care.
- Complete or assist with any trained activities as required by the school.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience working with SEND pupils or those with visual impairments.
- Self‑motivated, reliable, well‑organised and demonstrates a caring attitude.
- Initiative, flexibility, patience and understanding of the confidential nature of the role.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to undertake any necessary training.
