Some teaching jobs ask you to join a school. This one asks you to help create one

At The Wolsey Park School, a brand-new specialist provision for children and young people with severe learning difficulties (SLD) and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), we are building a formidable team. We are looking for incredible teachers to help us build the very best specialist practice in our classrooms.

You will need resilience, drive and passion, as the school will be growing rapidly over the next few years, and our founding team will help lead the way, supporting new colleagues as they join. For this TLR position, the successful candidate will have passion and expertise for an area of specialist provision - perhaps communication, the arts, therapeutic approaches or early play - in which they have knowledge to share and the skills to model.

To establish the culture in which our learners and staff will thrive, we will:

  • Ensure our shared values of aspiration, positivity and dignity are at the heart of everything we do
  • Create a supportive, aspirational environment, where staff are trusted, valued and empowered to make a difference
  • Invest in high-quality curriculum and SEND professional development
  • Facilitate professional collaboration, research and innovation

Safeguarding our learners will be the highest priority. We will be relentless in our pursuit of a physically safe and emotionally secure environment. We commit to undertaking adapted, proactive safeguarding measures that address disability-related issues including communication barriers, and we expect all stakeholders to do the same.

If you could be part of the senior teaching team, creating a culture in which staff and learners thrive, then we would love to hear from you

This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward looking, inspiring and proactive Trust with a strong focus of CPD and staff well-being.

We can offer you:

  • Supportive leadership structure
  • A dedicated, experienced, and hardworking team of staff
  • The opportunity to develop within a highly effective multi academy trust
  • A wide range of employee benefits and wellbeing initiatives

Information about the School

This specialist school will consist of two sites, combining to offer 252 places for young people with severe, and profound and multiple learning difficulties, age 4-16 years. Cheryl is committed to growing and leading a team that ensures Wolsey Park is a place of joy and learning, where children and their families belong and thrive.

The Wolsey Park School, currently under construction, will have a phased opening beginning in 2027. Our plan for the school includes high-quality facilities and expertly trained staff; our vision is for a place of learning where children are known and cherished, and are at the centre of all we do.

The Wolsey Park School is being designed for children and young people who require a highly personalised curriculum. Learning will focus on communication and wellbeing, within an engaging, broader curriculum of foundational skills and enriching experiences to prepare our learners for life beyond school. We recognise that some of our young people will face significant challenges, and we will make sure they have the right support, the right approaches, and the right people around them, so that they can make fantastic progress in the ways that matter most to them and their families.

All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements to ensure the safeguarding of children and young people. All positions will involve appropriate checks and clearances.
