Fairways Primary School is looking for a skilled, passionate and approachable SENCo to join our vibrant, nurturing community. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who believes every child deserves to thrive and who has the expertise, creativity, and determination to make that happen.
We are looking to appoint a skilled, approachable and dedicated SENCo to join our senior leadership team and take up the mantle from our wonderful current SENCo, who is retiring after many years of dedicated service. This is an exciting opportunity to build upon strong, well-established SEND practice within a nurturing primary school community. This is a full-time position, with the time, support and autonomy needed to lead SEND provision effectively and robustly meet statutory duties.
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds the National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination (NASENCO)
- Fulfils the statutory responsibilities of the SENCO role in line with the SEND Code of Practice
- Is an excellent primary teacher with consistently strong classroom practice
- Has a deep commitment to inclusion and high expectations for pupils with SEND
- Can lead and manage SEND provision, including statutory processes, in line with the SEND Code of Practice
- Can support, challenge and develop staff to strengthen inclusive practice from Reception to Year 6
- Can lead and manage a large team of TAs
- Builds positive, trusting relationships with children, their families, staff and external professionals
- Will contribute to the wider strategic leadership of the school as a member of SLT, including acting as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and Designated Teacher for Looked After and Previously Looked After Children

Fairways is a two form entry primary school set in extensive beautiful grounds in Leigh on Sea that celebrates individuality, champions potential, and works tirelessly to ensure every pupil feels seen, supported, and valued.
