At Chalkwell Hall Infant School, we are proud of our supportive, nurturing and aspirational school community, where children are encouraged to thrive. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Nursery Practitioner to join our school based nursery, which opened in September 2024.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of our Early Years team, working alongside our Nursery Teacher to provide a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment in which every child can learn, develop and flourish.

About the role

Working in partnership with the Nursery Teacher, you will support the daily running of the nursery and help meet the social, emotional, educational and welfare needs of the children, in accordance with the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and school policies and procedures. You will take responsibility for an allocated group of children, supporting their individual needs, development and learning, while contributing to the wider work of our Early Years team.

We are looking for someone who is caring, enthusiastic and committed to providing high quality early years education, helping every child to feel safe, valued and ready to learn. The role will also include supporting our Tea Time Club, providing a welcoming and caring environment for children beyond the nursery day.

About you

The successful candidate will have:

  • Recent experience of working within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  • A good general standard of education.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young children's learning, development and wellbeing.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and build positive relationships with children, colleagues and families.

Working hours - flexibility considered

Our preferred working pattern is:

  • Monday to Thursday: 9.50am - 5.45pm
  • Friday: 9.50am - 5.10pm

This includes a 30 minute unpaid lunch break each day, giving a total of 36.5 paid hours per week. However, we recognise that flexibility matters. For the right candidate, we are happy to consider our existing working pattern:

  • Monday and Wednesday: 8.15am - 5.30pm
  • Tuesday and Thursday: 8.00am - 2.30pm
  • Friday: 8.00am - 4.30pm

We are open to discussing working hours with candidates throughout the recruitment process and would welcome a conversation about what may work for the right person. All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements to ensure the safeguarding of children and young people. All positions will involve appropriate checks and clearances.
