St Clare's Catholic Primary School is seeking to appoint an experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant.
Working as part of a small KS1 SEN hub, you will need to be calm, kind, flexible and dedicated.
A genuine love of working with children is essential.
- What the successful applicant will do
- Have experience in supporting pupils with needs such as Learning Difficulties, Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs and Physical & Medical Needs.
- Have a good understanding of the Early Years and Primary curriculum.
- Be enthusiastic, confident and able to show initiative.
- Be compassionate and patient.
- Be able to work in partnership with SENCO, CT & external agencies.
- Establish constructive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model, and interact with them according to individual needs.
- Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
- Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher.
- Establish constructive relationships with parents/carers.
- Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
- Be aware of and support differences and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
- Hold at least an A - C pass in GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
- What the successful applicant would be expected to do
- Assist with the development and implementation of One Plans/EHCPs.
- Monitor and record pupil responses and learning.
- Supervise the pupil for limited and specific periods including break times.
- Support the students with their intimate care.
- Assist with escorting the pupil on educational visits.
- Use initiative and contribute to creating a stimulating and purposeful learning environment.
- Work in partnership with other teaching assistants.
- Encourage independence and promote self‑confidence.
- Support the class teacher where necessary in planning differentiated work for the pupil.
- Create simple resources to support the pupil's work, as appropriate.
- Attend INSET days and training as identified by the Headteacher.
