The Role

You will play a key role in supporting pupils with additional needs, working closely with teachers to help every student thrive.   • Provide targeted support to individual pupils or small groups, as directed by the class teacher or SENDCO.
  • Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum, helping them to overcome barriers to learning.
  • Support pupils in developing independent learning and social skills.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers.
  • Contribute to the supervision of pupils during break and lunchtime as required.
  • Attend relevant meetings and training sessions to support professional development.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold the school\โ€™s policies at all times.

The King Edmund School is a co-educational comprehensive school for students aged 11 to 19. KES is an Ofsted-rated Good single academy trust in Rochford, Essex, which serves a geographically and socially diverse area. In the 2024 Ofsted report, KES was rated Good, with a well-designed curriculum and strong subject knowledge. The school values inclusion, high standards, and a safe environment where students are supported to achieve their Personal Best.

Phase one of a multi-million-pound project to renovate the school is underway as part of the Department for Educationโ€™s Rebuilding Schools for the Future programme. Phase two will redevelop the remainder of the school site over the coming years. The school provides ongoing pastoral care and SEND provision through dedicated teams and encourages involvement from parents in school life.
