About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled premises professional to take a leading role in ensuring our school environments are safe, secure, compliant and well‑maintained. Working closely with the Chief Operations Officer, you will lead the day‑to‑day management of premises, maintenance, compliance, cleaning and site security. You will oversee contractors, support the management of caretaking and cleaning colleagues and help drive continual improvements to our systems, standards and facilities. The role combines hands‑on practical work with the organisation and management of compliance, maintenance programmes and contractor activity.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing planned and reactive maintenance across the Trust
- Overseeing statutory compliance checks and maintaining accurate records
- Supporting the implementation of health and safety procedures
- Managing contractors and external maintenance works
- Ensuring high standards of cleanliness and site presentation
- Supporting school events, lettings and out‑of‑hours activities
- Maintaining secure and safe school environments
- Supporting and supervising caretaking and cleaning colleagues
- Identifying and resolving maintenance and operational issues promptly
About You
- Has experience in premises, facilities or site management
- Has experience supervising or managing staff
- Understands health and safety and statutory compliance requirements
- Has practical maintenance and repair skills
- Can effectively coordinate contractors and maintenance programmes
- Is organised, proactive and solutions‑focused
- Takes pride in maintaining high standards
- Has strong communication and record‑keeping skills
- Is comfortable working independently whilst contributing positively to a wider team
- Experience of working within a school or educational setting would be advantageous
