Wraparound Care Play Leader

Canonium Learning Trust seeks an enthusiastic, organised and reliable leader to oversee our before and after school provision.

The role involves managing the day‑to‑day running of the provision, ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding and enrichment, and delivering a varied programme of activities for children.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver a varied programme of activities that supports children’s interests, wellbeing and development.
  • Oversee the daily operation of before and after school care, ensuring all activities run smoothly.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding and child protection in all care activities.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families and school staff to promote a supportive environment.
  • Adapt plans to meet the needs of children across the schools in Chelmsford, Maldon, Braintree, Colchester and Tendring.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and welfare regulations.

Qualifications

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Confidence to work independently and use initiative.
  • A warm, caring and positive approach to working with children.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and child protection procedures.
  • Ability to plan engaging activities that support children’s interests, wellbeing and development.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to schools across Essex.
  • Pay and Hours

Hourly rate £13.47 + holiday pay.

The position is a flexible casual role across the schools listed, with session times typically 7:30‑8:45am for breakfast clubs and 3:15‑5:30/6:00pm for after‑school provision.

The contract is part‑time and temporary, with a start date of 01/10/2026 and an application close date of 31/08/2026.

Eligibility

All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements and will involve appropriate checks and clearances.
