Queen Boudica Primary School is a thriving and successful two-form entry primary school situated on the north side of Colchester. We offer modern, well-resourced learning environments and our pupils are well mannered, dynamic and motivated to learn.

You will be offered strong support from friendly colleagues and professional development opportunities to enable you to extend your existing skill set.

We are seeking a dedicated person to support a capable, creative child in KS2 who benefits from predictable routines, strong adult relationships, and calm, nurturing support. He can experience emotional dysregulation linked to ADHD and needs support to use self‑regulation strategies, access quiet spaces, and return to learning. He engages best with short, structured tasks, reduced writing demands, and clear, visual guidance to help him feel safe, confident, and ready to learn.

We are looking for someone warm, patient, and emotionally attuned, who can build a trusting, consistent relationship and offer calm, nurturing support throughout the day. The ideal person will be confident using trauma‑informed approaches (such as PACE), able to model emotional regulation, and skilled at noticing early signs of dysregulation. You should enjoy celebrating small successes, use positive and specific praise, and feel comfortable supporting learning through scaffolded tasks, short achievable steps, and creative alternatives to written recording.

Above all, we are seeking someone who can bring empathy, curiosity, and steadiness to the role - helping this child feel safe, understood, and confident as a learner.

Support will be provided from our SENCO, Pastoral Team and the class teacher. Close liaison with home and attendance at termly reviews are essential, and effective working with other professionals in a 'team around' approach is also important.

As with all posts in our school, the successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check, in line with our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We reserve the right to close the advert early if an appropriate candidate applies.

Interviews: Week beginning 23.2.26.
