About the School

Compass Community Schools provide specialist SEND provision for children with complex behaviours and needs. The school is a trauma and attachment‑informed organisation that delivers a holistic, therapeutic curriculum including practical activities such as sailing and horse riding. Role

The teacher works at a highly personal level, building nurturing, professional relationships with each child, and motivating them to learn. Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning engaging, purpose‑driven learning opportunities tailored to individual strengths and interests.
  • Managing complex and challenging behaviours with consistent, flexible communication strategies.
  • Collaborating with education and therapy professionals, parents/carers and local authority teams to create inclusive, student‑centred outcomes.
  • Supporting students’ social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) and other SEND needs such as autism, ADHD and communication difficulties.
  • Providing therapeutic and supportive supervision and participating in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills suitable for working with children with complex needs.
  • Experience managing behavioural challenges and delivering therapeutic, student‑centred instruction.
  • A willingness to engage in extensive therapeutic training and obtain an Enhanced DBS or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity.
