Role
At Hamilton Primary we inspire minds and manage behaviour. We look for passionate individuals to join our team as SEN Learning Support Assistants. As an SEN LSA you will work closely with class teachers, applying evidence‑based practice and supporting pupils with additional needs in line with the National Curriculum and their SEND Support Plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a positive learning environment for students with SEND.
- Support classroom teachers and learning activities.
- Implement and monitor SEND support plans.
- Use evidence‑based strategies and assistive technology.
- Build trusting relationships and recognise emotional fatigue and masking.
- Break down multi‑step instructions into clear, predictable steps.
- Coordinate schedules, including school days, home tuition and therapies.
Required Skills & Experience
- Mastery of low‑demand, non‑declarative communication and fluency in AAC tools such as visual scales and communication boards.
- Ability to build deep relational trust and read subtle emotional indicators.
- Expertise in simplifying instructional tasks with task boards, mind maps, and assistive technology.
- High‑level coordination and collaboration for a hybrid schedule.
Working Hours
- Post 1: 9am – 12:30pm Monday to Friday (15 min break).
- Post 2: 1:30pm – 3:15pm Monday to Friday (no break).
