As the Wraparound Care Play Leader, you will oversee the day-to-day running of the provision, ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding, and enrichment. You will plan and deliver a varied programme of activities and build positive relationships with children, families, and school staff. This is a flexible casual role providing wraparound care to our schools located across Chelmsford, Maldon, Braintree, Colchester and Tendring. Depending on your availability and location, you may be asked to work at one or more of these schools, supporting our before and after-school provision as required.

We are looking for individuals who:

  • have excellent organisational and communication skills
  • have the confidence to work independently and use initiative
  • have a warm, caring and positive approach
  • have a good understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and child protection procedures
  • can plan engaging activities that support children's interests, wellbeing and development
  • are able to travel to schools across Essex.

Our wraparound care provision operates before and after school each day across all of our schools. While session times vary slightly between schools, most breakfast clubs begin at around 7:30am and run until the start of the school day at approximately 8:45am. After school provision begins at 3:15pm and continues until around 5:30pm or 6:00pm, depending on the school. The hourly rate of pay is £13.47 per hour + holiday pay.

We encourage you to review the candidate pack thoroughly and prepare for the next steps in our recruitment process. St Peter’s Church of England (VA) Primary School has just recently joined the Canonium Learning Trust in April 2025. St Peter's is a small church school of 4 classes set in the village of West Hanningfield. We are a welcoming, caring Christian family who take pride in each others' achievements. Our school is a calm, purposeful learning environment that enables children to achieve their potential in all areas of the curriculum. We enjoy positive and supportive relationships with governors, parents, the local community and churches. It is essential that any candidate is supportive of the school's Christian ethos.

We are committed to safeguarding the welfare of children in our care and expect our staff to follow this commitment. Successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory references, medical checks and an enhanced DBS check.
