About the role
Notley High School and Sixth Form, part of Bridge Academy Trust, is an ambitious, improving school rated Strong by Ofsted for Inclusion and Leadership & Governance (May 2026). We are seeking a Skilled and Committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Reading) to cover maternity leave from January 2027, supporting pupils who need help to develop their reading skill and confidence.
Responsibilities
- Deliver targeted reading intervention and support across the school
- Work closely with the SENDCo and the Assistant Headteacher for Whole School Reading to identify and support pupils with reading needs
- Receive full support from an experienced and welcoming team
- Contribute to the school's Enjoy · Enrich · Achieve · Aspire ethos
Qualifications and Experience
- Holds HLTA status (or equivalent relevant experience/qualification)
- Experience delivering structured reading intervention programmes
- Confidence in identifying and addressing gaps in pupils' reading ability
- Committed to inclusive practice and raising outcomes for all pupils
- Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
- Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
Work Schedule
- 18 hours per week
- Term Time Only + 5 Inset Days (39 weeks a year)
- Fixed term covering maternity leave
