We wish to appoint an exceptional Teacher of Art & Photography to join our talented Creative Arts Faculty on a 1-Year Fixed Contract.
Our academy operates across two sites. The Lower Academy specialises in the teaching of our Key Stage 3 students, whilst The Upper Academy specialises in teaching Key Stage 4 and 5. The successful Art Teacher will be based at the Upper Academy, offering KS4 & 5 Art & Photography courses to both our mainstream students and those in our own in-house Enhanced Provision which provides SEMH support for young people.
We have a fully inclusive ethos and are therefore seeking an Art Teacher who embodies our Trauma Perceptive Practice principles. The Creative Arts Faculty boasts a team of highly trained creative and motivated practitioners who work collaboratively to share and develop each other's specialisms through department CPD.
Upper Academy students benefit from access to professional-standard creative facilities, including a photography studio with multiple backdrops, professional lighting, DSLR cameras, a darkroom, and industry-standard editing software. Students also have use of a dedicated KS5 studio with individual workstations and display boards, alongside large-scale printing, 3D printing, laser and spray booths, textile facilities with sewing machines, and digital graphics tablets.
The Academies offer staff tailored and effective support to meet their professional development needs, ensuring they are provided with opportunities that challenge them at a high level. All staff take ownership of their own learning journey and are given opportunities to reflect on their own practice, as well as supporting others through being members of Teacher Learning Communities. There is an open-door culture that encourages teachers to 'drop in' on colleagues, therefore promoting good practice within the schools.
We are dedicated to the SSAT Embedding Formative Assessment CPD programme for the next two years, while also supporting staff in advancing their expertise and leadership through a variety of internal and external programmes, including the complete range of NPQ courses. Our strong track record demonstrates our success in developing staff from ITT to Headship. Staff are well supported and are proud to work here.
If you can engage, motivate and challenge students to make exceptional progress, then please download and complete our application form and return it to our Recruitment & Cover Coordinator, Olivia Faustino – recruitment@basildonacademies.org.uk.

Information about the School: The Basildon Academies is focused upon developing the whole child; our curriculum has been developed to enable our students to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills so that they will become lifelong learners. This includes opportunities for linguistic, mathematical, scientific, technical, human, social, physical and artistic learning so that students make progress in a wide range of subjects. We set high expectations of all our students and this, in turn, ensures we create a positive climate for learning in which every student can reach their full potential. Our Academy is a calm, orderly and purposeful environment where students enjoy their learning, make good progress and feel safe. Our Sixth Form is a major part of the academy with the structure modelling itself on developing independent learning skills like those seen in universities which allows students to continue their studies in their specialist subject areas. Students are very much encouraged to become mature adults being engaged in many aspects of the life of the academy which further develops those much needed skills to go on into university or the world of work.
All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements to ensure the safeguarding of children and young people. All positions will involve appropriate checks and clearances.
