We are seeking a Student Development Champion (SDC) to join our academy as part of our dedicated pastoral team. This is a rewarding opportunity for a committed individual who is passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning.
Salary and Working Hours
- Salary Range: Band 4 FTE £31,176 - £34,469. Actual starting salary £10,400 with performance based annual increments
- Working Hours: 2 days per week, 08:00-16:00 Monday and Tuesday
- Working Weeks: 39 Weeks (Term Time) and Parent/Open Evening as required
We are an aspirational academy operating across two sites. The Lower Academy specialises in teaching Key Stage 3 students, whilst the Upper Academy specialises in teaching Key Stage 4 and 5. The successful candidate will be positioned at the Upper Academy within our in‑house Enhanced Provision which provides SEMH support for young people. We have a fully inclusive ethos and are therefore seeking someone who embodies our Trauma Perceptive Practice principles.
Responsibilities
The Student Development Champion will focus on attitude to learning, acting as the key contact for parents on all cross‑curricular or pastoral matters for the identified student cohort. They will facilitate the management of the Hub for students, including monitoring of work, establishing a calm and purposeful environment, and overseeing opportunities for reflection and reintegration into lessons. They also have oversight of daily matters such as on‑call, uniform, attendance, and support teachers in ensuring pupils engage with their learning to be successful.
