The Phlebotomist will be part of the Primary Health Care team providing high quality and forward-thinking nursing care to meet the holistic healthcare needs of the Practice population, working to agreed Practice standards and protocols for the delivery of patient care. This role works across all Shore sites on a part time basis.
Key responsibilities of the role include venepuncture; including routine and urgent blood tests, providing training for staff undertaking phlebotomy as part of their role and chaperoning for other clinical staff, which are duties agreed by the Head of Nursing.

Hours: 24 Hours per week- Monday, Thursday and Friday
Main duties of the job
- Chaperoning for other clinical staff
- Supporting patients who are anxious or distressed
- Stocking clinical rooms
- Maintaining and cleaning equipment.
- Ensure correct ordering of venepuncture equipment
- Adheres to Shores Infection Control Policy
- Responsible for the correct and safe management specimens including collection, labelling, handling, use of correct and clean containers, storage and transport arrangements.

Job responsibilities
- Provides support to other members of the primary health care team and contributes towards the co-ordination of team activities and the development of the Practice as a whole.
- Refers to more senior members of the Primary Health Care team as appropriate.
- Works within all relevant practice policies and procedural guidelines for example: infection control, chaperoning.
- Is required to keep competencies up to date and partake in ongoing training and appraisal process for continuing professional development.
- Give specific treatments under Patient Specific Directions where appropriate and if deemed competent.
