A bit about the role: This role reports to: Portfolio Director, CWIEME Head of Marketing – CWIEME Berlin. This senior marketing role sits at the heart of the CWIEME Berlin event team, responsible for shaping and delivering high-impact marketing strategies that drive exhibitor and visitor growth, brand strength, and commercial performance. Working closely with both the event team and central marketing functions, the Head of Marketing will lead the strategy and execution of integrated, multi-channel campaigns across all marketing touchpoints – including digital, content, social and email. The role combines strategic ownership with hands-on leadership, ensuring marketing plans are insight-led, effectively executed, and deliver against revenue and attendance targets. This role also leads and develops a high-performing team, while fostering strong collaboration with central teams responsible for data acquisition, paid media, email marketing and web platforms.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Leadership & Campaign Delivery: Own the end-to-end marketing strategy for CWIEME Berlin, covering exhibitor and visitor acquisition, retention, and brand positioning. Develop and deliver integrated, multi-channel marketing campaigns across digital, content, social media, email and partnerships. Ensure all campaigns are aligned to commercial objectives, driving revenue, lead generation and attendance growth. Translate audience insight, market trends and performance data into clear, actionable marketing plans.
  • Customer-Centric Growth: Champion a customer-first approach across all marketing activity, ensuring deep understanding of audience segments, needs and behaviours. Drive growth marketing initiatives to acquire new customers while increasing engagement and lifetime value of existing audiences. Continuously optimise the customer journey to improve conversion across exhibitor and visitor funnels.
  • Performance & Optimisation: Own marketing performance, including tracking, reporting and optimisation of key KPIs across all channels. Lead regular campaign reviews, identifying opportunities to improve ROI and implementing recovery plans where required. Work closely with central teams to ensure effective execution and continuous improvement of paid media, email and digital performance.
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration: Lead, mentor and develop a team including a Content Marketing Manager and Senior Marketing Executive, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture. Provide clear direction, coaching and support to ensure strong execution and professional growth within the team. Partner closely with central marketing teams (data, digital, email, web) to ensure alignment, efficiency and best-in-class delivery. Act as a key marketing voice within the event team, influencing broader strategy and decision-making.
  • Budget & Commercial Accountability: Own the marketing budget, ensuring effective allocation of spend to deliver maximum ROI. Contribute to revenue forecasting and commercial planning, aligning marketing activity to business targets. Drive measurable growth in leads, attendance and exhibitor revenue.
  • Data Strategy & Audience Development: Define and deliver data strategies to support audience growth, segmentation and targeting. Work with central data teams to improve database quality, identify gaps and build scalable acquisition plans. Leverage data and insights to inform campaign strategy and improve marketing effectiveness.
  • Brand, Content & Market Positioning: Oversee the development of compelling brand messaging, value propositions and content strategies. Ensure consistent tone of voice and strong brand positioning across all channels. Lead media partnerships, PR and content initiatives to enhance brand visibility and drive audience acquisition.

Here’s what we’re looking for from you: Proven experience as a senior B2B marketing leader, ideally within events, exhibitions or complex, multi-audience environments. Demonstrated success in owning and delivering end-to-end, multi-channel marketing strategies that drive both exhibitor revenue and visitor acquisition. Strong expertise in campaign planning and execution across digital, content, social, email and partnerships, with a focus on measurable performance and ROI. Experience leading and developing high-performing teams, with the ability to coach, mentor and inspire direct reports to deliver results. A highly collaborative approach, with experience working cross-functionally with centralised teams (e.g. digital, data, paid media, web) to deliver integrated campaigns. Deep understanding of customer-centric marketing, including segmentation, audience insight and optimisation of the customer journey. Strong commercial mindset, with experience managing budgets, forecasting performance and aligning marketing activity to revenue targets. Data-driven and analytical, with the ability to interpret campaign performance, identify opportunities, and drive continuous optimisation. Experience in audience growth and database development, including working with data teams to improve data quality, segmentation and acquisition strategies. Proven ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment, managing multiple priorities and driving change where needed. Results-focused, with a clear track record of delivering against KPIs and consistently improving marketing performance.

Desirable competencies and qualities: Collaborative in outlook and creative problem solver. Excellent management of internal relationships. Integrity, excellent organisational and leadership abilities, and strong interpersonal and communication skills. An aptitude for decision-making and problem-solving. Ability to act as an inspirational leader with charisma and energy. Commercially and culturally astute, focused on adding value with the ability to influence and persuade senior leaders.
