This role reports to the VP, Sales - Shoptalk. Shoptalk is looking for a Business Development Manager to join our team and drive sponsorship sales across Shoptalk. This is a 100% new business role; we are looking for someone who is an innate 'hunter' and enjoys chasing and securing new deals and clients.
You will be comfortable sourcing your own leads, finding new prospects, and being creative in how and where you source new relationships and clients. If you have 3+ years of sales experience (ideally in large conferences/events) and would like to be part of the in-person and digital events shaping the future of retail, we’d love to hear from you. This role requires being on-site 3x weekly.

As part of your job, you’ll be:
- Meeting and exceeding individual and team sales targets
- Identifying prospecting and closing new business opportunities
- Using social media, various data platforms, and online tools to identify new growth areas and key new business bellwethers
- Managing and building relationships within assigned accounts of large and startup tech providers
- Self-sourcing leads by networking at industry conferences and meetings, Hyve Group events, and competitor events, or through online research
- Responding to customer enquiries quickly and prioritising activities with customers at different stages in the sales process
- Utilising our CRM to track and report
