Mining Indaba is the premier meeting place for African mining leaders, investors, governments, mining companies, technology providers, and service providers. We are seeking an experienced, commercially driven Delegate Sales Manager to lead delegate acquisition, grow delegate revenue, and drive attendance growth across key audience segments. The successful candidate will work closely with internal sales and marketing teams to develop and execute delegate sales campaigns, manage audience acquisition plans, and maximise delegate revenue.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delegate Sales Strategy & Revenue Growth
    • Develop and implement delegate acquisition strategies to achieve attendance and revenue targets for Mining Indaba.
    • Identify, prioritise, and penetrate key audience segments including mining companies, government representatives, financial institutions, EPCs, technology providers, and industry associations.
    • Build and manage delegate sales pipelines to ensure consistent delivery against targets.
    • Monitor sales performance and identify opportunities to improve conversion rates and campaign effectiveness.
  • Campaign Planning & Execution
    • Work closely with the Marketing team to develop targeted acquisition campaigns across email, digital, content marketing, partnerships, and telemarketing channels.
    • Provide audience insights and sales intelligence to support campaign development and optimisation.
    • Track campaign performance and recommend adjustments to maximise ROI and delegate registrations.
    • Keep up-to-date with industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to position our event competitively.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Collaborate with Marketing, Sponsorship and Exhibition Sales, and Product teams to deliver a cohesive delegate acquisition strategy.
    • Develop relationships with industry associations, partners, and key stakeholders to support audience growth.
    • Identify and secure strategic partnerships that drive delegate registrations.
  • Reporting & Analysis
    • Maintain accurate forecasting and reporting through internal teams' systems.
    • Analyse delegate acquisition metrics, sales activity, conversion rates, and campaign performance.
    • Present regular updates and recommendations to senior management.
    • Use data-driven insights to continuously improve acquisition strategies.
Skills & Experience
  • Essential
    • 3–5+ years' experience in conference delegate sales, event audience acquisition, or B2B event sales.
    • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding delegate revenue and attendance targets.
    • Experience managing telesales teams, outsourced agencies, or high-volume sales operations.
    • Strong understanding of sales funnels, lead management, and CRM systems.
    • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
    • Highly analytical with the ability to interpret sales and marketing performance data.
    • Strong commercial mindset with a focus on revenue growth and customer acquisition.
    • Experience working closely with marketing teams to develop integrated campaigns.
  • Desirable
    • Experience within mining, natural resources, energy, infrastructure, finance, or large-scale B2B conferences.
    • Knowledge of African markets and mining industry stakeholders.
    • Experience working with external sales agents.
