Level 5 Early Years Lead Practitioner Apprenticeship – Hopscotch Pre School (Room Leader) (Term Time Only)
Shoots Training are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and hardworking individual to complete their Level 5 Early Years Lead Practitioner Apprenticeship as a Room Leader at Hopscotch Pre School, Ferndown. Hopscotch Preschool and Nursery is a long-established setting based in Ferndown and caters for children from 3 months to 3 years. We value fun and a great atmosphere! Children learn most successfully when they are happy and secure, supported by a team who are happy and fun loving! We are a busy and thriving setting within a purpose-built building surrounded by large outdoor spaces and overlooking protected heathland.
Your duties and responsibilities will include:
- The role of a Room Leader looks after the educational and social development of babies from 3 months to 2 years old. Their primary duties include providing children with a safe environment to learn, helping them to develop basic social and behavioural skills and engaging them in age-appropriate play activities whilst leading a team of 5.
- Manage and support the team of childcare workers and educators in the room.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities to staff, ensuring a smooth workflow.
- Mentor and train staff to ensure high standards of care and education are maintained.
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate learning activities that support the developmental needs of the children.
- Organise a daily routine that balances learning, play, and rest.
- Create stimulating environments with engaging activities that encourage children’s curiosity and development.
- Ensure individual learning plans are developed to meet the needs of each child.
- Ensure the room is always well-organized and that all resources are available and used effectively.
- Set up activities and create displays that reflect the children's work and progress.
What are we looking for?
- Early Years qualification (Level 3 or higher) in childcare.
- Strong leadership and organisational skills.
- Experience working in an early year setting.
- Good communication skills, both with children and adults.
Requirements:
- A Level 3 Childcare qualification is essential.
- Must have GCSE grades A*-C or 4-9 in Maths and English, or equivalent.
Hours:
Hopscotch Pre School is open from 7:45am – 6:00pm Monday to Friday (Term Time Only). The successful candidate will be required to work 39 hours per week over 4 days with the same day off each week.
