Shoots Training are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and hardworking individual to complete their Level 3 Childcare Apprenticeship at The Caterpillar Club, Ferndown.

Requirements;

  • A Level 2 Childcare qualification is essential
  • You must be able to gain a clear DBS
  • Preferably have GCSE grades A*-C or 4-9 in Maths and English, or equivalent or willing to work towards them

The Caterpillar Club is a pre-school catering for children aged 2 years until they join a reception class at school.

We have a very close affiliation to Ferndown First School.

We are also members of the Pre-school Learning Alliance, a professional body designed to support pre-schools in their role of caring for children.

Our aim is to provide a happy, secure and stimulating environment in which pre-school children can learn through play.

The Caterpillar Club is run by an elected committee of mostly parents.

They are responsible for adopting the policies for the running of the pre-school, and for the employment and appraisal of staff.

The Caterpillar Club is a registered charity.

At the Caterpillar Club we use the Early Years Foundation Stage framework to create a curriculum that is interesting, stimulating and fun!

  • Your duties and responsibilities will include;
  • Provide high-quality care and education for children aged 0–5 years in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  • Create a safe, caring, and stimulating environment where every child can learn and develop.
  • Support children's learning through play, planned activities, and everyday experiences.
  • Build positive, nurturing relationships with children to support their emotional wellbeing and development.
  • Observe, monitor, and record children's progress, sharing information with senior staff and parents where appropriate.
  • Assist in planning and delivering engaging activities that meet children's individual needs and interests.
  • Support children's personal care, including toileting, nappy changing, handwashing, and promoting independence.
  • Prepare and supervise meal and snack times, encouraging healthy eating habits.
  • Ensure children's health, safety, and wellbeing are always maintained.
  • Follow nursery policies and procedures, including safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality, and equal opportunities.
  • Work effectively as part of a team and communicate professionally with colleagues, parents, and other professionals.
  • Build positive partnerships with parents and carers, providing feedback on their child's day and development.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised learning environment, ensuring resources are well cared for.
  • Support children with additional needs, ensuring an inclusive environment for all.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Be willing to work towards and successfully achieve a Level 3 Early Years qualification, with support from the nursery.
  • Act as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, enthusiasm, and a commitment to high standards of childcare.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role as requested by the Nursery Manager.
  • Hours;
  • The Caterpillar Club is open from 08:30am – 3:30pm Monday to Friday (Term Time Only)
  • The successful candidate will be required to work 32 hours per week
