Level 3 Childcare Apprenticeship – Big Discoveries Nursery

Shoots Training are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and hardworking individual to complete their Level 3 Childcare Apprenticeship / Early Years Lead Practitioner Apprenticeship at Big Discoveries Nursery, Porchester. Based in the heart of Portchester, Big Discoveries Nursery is located in the Portchester Community Centre. We provide quality childcare for children aged 0-5.

Here at Big Discoveries Nursery we have a child-focussed approach to learning, with easily accessible resources and free-flow to the garden. We had our latest inspection in October 2024 and were graded as outstanding in all areas of our provision to provide a safe, happy, caring, challenging and stimulating environment for your child to make big discoveries to help children to develop a love for learning in order to become curious, independent learners to enable all children to become happy and confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors to society to help all children develop life-long skills.

We have 1 room, purpose built pre-school, with designated areas for babies but integrated setting so all children are working collaboratively together.

Your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Be an inspiring practitioner with a sound knowledge of child development.
  • Be proficient in leading the delivery of all aspects of teaching and learning.
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Display a caring and nurturing attitude towards the children in your care.

Role responsibilities include:

  • To observe, plan and assess children’s learning and development within the EYFS framework.
  • Develop positive partnership with parents.
  • To keep on top of and be aware of all safeguarding needs at all times.

Requirements:

  • A Level 2 Childcare qualification would be desirable.
  • At least 12 months experience in a nursery setting.
  • Preferably have GCSE grades A*-C or 4-9 in Maths and English, or equivalent or willing to work towards them.

Hours:

Big Discoveries Nursery is open from 7:30am – 5:30pm Monday to Friday. The successful candidate will be required to work 40 hours per week.
