Shooting Star Children’s Hospices provides specialist care and support to families who have a baby, child or young person with a life-limiting condition, or who have been bereaved. Rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, they support families across Surrey, north-west London and south-west London from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care. At the heart of what we do are our dedicated staff; their exceptional commitment and professionalism means every family has the opportunity to make every moment count.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the team as a Legacy and In-Memory Fundraiser. This exciting and varied role involves developing and increasing income, donor acquisition and engagement across SSCH’s Individual Giving fundraising programme, including legacies. The post will work with the team to maximise potential and develop both new and existing donors, through targeted donor development campaigns, supporter acquisition and retention programmes. The post holder will work flexibly across the Individual Giving income streams including individual donations, campaigns, gifts in memory and legacies, with a key responsibility for relationship management and support to families who fundraise in memory of a loved one. Another key element of the role is to promote legacy giving and support with legacy administration. This role combines a targeted, driven approach with excellent donor care and relationship management, helping to drive growth and income.
The successful applicant will have demonstrable experience in fundraising or comparable transferable skills, and a willingness to learn about all individual giving income streams, especially legacy income. You will provide a compassionate and meaningful supporter journey for those raising money in memory of a loved one. With strong customer service and administrative skills, you will be able to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of the wider fundraising team, supporting the growth and success of our income streams.
In return you will receive a competitive salary along with benefits including:
- NHS Pension Scheme (for eligible employees) or our stakeholder pension scheme, with up to 7% employer contributions
- 27 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays, rising with length of service
- 2 weeks paid sabbatical leave after 5, 10 and 15 years’ service
- Enhanced maternity, adoption, and paternity leave pay
- Flexible working arrangements
- Reimbursed professional membership fees
- Eye care
- Employee Assistance Programme
- Occupational Health
- Mindfulness sessions
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. We are committed to equal opportunities and consider all applicants in line with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Employment is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS check.
